Ne-Yo to perform at SummerFest 2006
Friday June 23, 2006
Simpson Bay, St. Maarten -
At just the tender age of 22, Ne-Yo
is already taking the music industry
by storm. Always the artist, Ne-Yo
is exceptionally talented at expressing
himself through various art forms including
martial arts, paintings, drawings and
is better known through song.
This songwriter turned singer found his
passion for music growing up in his single
parent home in Las Vegas Nevada. Born
Shaffer C. Smith, Ne-Yo has penned some
of the biggest radio records in history,
writing for the likes of multi-platinum
and Grammy award winning artists such
as Mary J. Blige, B2K, Faith Evans, Mario
and Musiq. His lyrical talent has produced
some of the most heartfelt, and passionate
songs that touch the soul.
His first single “Stay with Me” exemplifies
his talent to produce multifaceted songs
that are fit for the dance floor while
featuring his smooth layered vocals.
His big hit “So Sick” in
which he laments hearing love songs on
the radio after a love gone wrong, has
also taken the airwaves by storm and
is a huge hit here on the island as well.
His debut album on Def Jam Records “In
my Own Words” captures his charismatic
character in all of his songs, with some
suited for the bedroom, some for the
dance floor while others capture his
more playful side such as in “When
You’re Mad” in which he tells
his lover she is even more beautiful
when she “makes her angry face.”
Ne-Yo will be in St. Maarten on July 29th, 2006 to perform on the RnB Night at the 3rd Annual St. Maarten/St. Martin SummerFest. Be sure not to miss this great performance.
